Focus Designations (graduation requirement)
The UH Mānoa Focus requirements assure that students have knowledge and skills that are necessary for living and working in diverse communities. UH Mānoa students are required to complete 8 courses with the following Focus designations. These requirements are met in the EECE Education Core (see below), with the exception of the H Focus designation. Some sections of the emphasis course ITE or EDEF 360: Multicultural Education offer the H designation, but not all of them.
• Hawaiian, Asian, & Pacific Issues (H): 1 class
• Contemporary Ethical Issues (E): 1 class
• Oral Communication (O): 1 class
• Writing Intensive (W): 5 classes
